Charles Faulkner Bryan (1911-1955) was an important musician, composer, and teacher from McMinnville, Tenn. He is knnown for his many songs and for the Bell Witch Cantata. Singin' Billy, a folk opera, is the result of his collaboration with Donald Davidson, a poet and critic and longtime professor at Vanderbilt University.
